Generation for Peace

We have a dream - that all children will learn how to live in peace. CryPeace is helping this dream come true, one child at a time, through our "Are We Together?" Peaceful Relationships curriculum. So far it has equipped over 7,500 teenagers in Uganda with essential life skills. We are looking for partners to share teach it or share it with their networks, and invite peace lovers everywhere to support us on this journey.

What is the "Are We Together?" Peaceful Relationships Curriculum?

"Are We Together?" is a free facilitator's manual that teaches universal values, skills and tools in a fun an engaging way.  Co-developed by Canadian and Ugandan peacebuilders, its Ugandan folk stories and examples will resonate across sub-Saharan Africa. It was certified and recommended by Uganda's National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) in 2024 as important for today's societyLearn more about its content and history

Is it relevant elsewhere?

Its lessons and values are universal; how the examples translate in different contexts remains to be seen. Currently, we are gathering a team to adapt it for Canadian primary school students. We are also developing a Biblical compendium for Christian youth ministries. You can get involved by supporting our program, by teaching our free, proven curriculum, or by helping us pilot, review or adapt it for different ages, contexts and languages.

Our Role is Equipping Partners

We are a 100% volunteer, low-cost team that is committed to peace education. We do not fund programs; we equip partners with our free, certified peaceful relationships curriculum. Ideal partners include schools, faith-based organizations, and non-profit organizations that do youth capacity building. Partnering with teacher training institutions is an exciting innovation. This course has made a significant difference to former street children; we would love to expand the program for children at risk.

Our education expert is available for online mentoring from Canada, and Carole is available for onsite train-the-trainer workshops. Together, let's raise a generation for peace.

Together, let's raise a generation for peace.

Who teaches the course?

Our first first peace class started in March 2024. The children love it, and the leaders affirm it is making a difference. Its leader, Joshua, wishes everyone could learn peaceOur 35 first young peacebuilders graduated in March 2026. CryPeace is continuing to support them on their journey to becoming community youth peacebuilders.

Our second class started at a home for disadvantaged children in Kampala in May 2024. If anyone needs peace, it's these precious children, most of whom had been living on the street. One of the teenagers, Joshua, told me that no one ever taught him about peace before, but now he wants to share it with his friends, and help others when he grows up.

In one of our training workshops, Reverend Kisitu crossed religious barriers to make his first Muslim friend. They are both eager to bring peace training to their communities. We encourage you to listen Reverend Kisitu's testimony, and hear how it's nurturing a generation for peace in the school he founded with his wife, Milicah.

We also have a peace club in a secondary school, our curriculum is used by Sant'Egidio School of Peace, and more peace clubs are starting in 2026. We are growing!

Future Vision

As we develop evidence of its impact, our long-term vision is to encourage the National Curriculum Development Centre to integrate peace  more fully into the formal curricula, and the Ministry of Education to roll out curricula like "Are We Together?" to all schools. Since almost 50% of Uganda's population is under the age of 15, half of Ugandan's population could have practical peacebuilding skills within twenty years. Imagine the impact that could make!

How can I help?

If you are inspired to help, there are many ways to get involved:

  • Are you a headmaster or youth leader? Adopt the curriculum in your organization.
  • Are you a teacher? Facilitate the curriculum with your students, or see how peace education could be taught or mainstreamed in your context.
  • Are you a peace and conflict studies student? Become a facilitator, or research the impact of the program as your major project.
  • Gifted in adminstration? Help us manage and grow the project.
  • Believe in peace education? Help us raise funds, or send a one-time or monthly donation to sustain and expand the program.

It takes a village to raise a child...in the ways of peace. And it pays life-long dividends.

Together, let's raise a generation for peace!
